Winning over Fiona?
Rainbow Ivy left the cemetery as it began to rain. He was going to go to Fiona's house and try to convince her to go back with him to his patron. He couldn't tell her about his patron of course, so he would have to make up a reason for her going away. He hoped he could find a way to make her come with him. If for some unforeseen reason he couldn't do it with her consent, he would have to take other means. He didn't like his patron or necessarily trust them, but it was a job and one he was paid well for. He wasn't paid to think, pass judgments or get emotionally involved. He had to admit after meeting Fiona it was hard to be objective. She was so young and innocent. Not knowing what his patron wanted with her good or bad bothered him. If he knew that his patron's intentions were good he would feel better. He chided himself you have got to stop thinking this way. She is a job and your hard and fast rule is not to get involved. She is no different than any other jobs you have had.
Rainbow Ivy walked purposefully to the front door. He hope he wouldn't be making unnecessary trouble for Fiona. He shook his head in disgust. Stop it! What do you care. She is going to be delivered to the patron in a few days, and then she would be no concern of his. If he wasn't careful he would find himself caring what happened to her, and that was dangerous. He couldn't double cross his patron as they were powerful and it could be, no correction, it would be dangerous for him.
Rainbow Ivy stepped up to the door. He rang the doorbell and stood there waiting. Looking inside this nice house He wondered why Fiona was living here. This place was downright palatial. He could see art work of an expensive sort on the wall, and nice furniture. Fiona was an ogre and was out of her element here he was sure. He had heard that ogres liked to live in dirty mud huts, with mud floors and thatched roofs in the middle of stinky swamps. The stinkier the better in fact. Who was living here with Fiona? Whoever he was, he was rich that was certain. Rainbow Ivy hesitated. Did he have the right to take Fiona out of this comfortable situation to some unknown fate? He was torn. It looked like Fiona was cared for here, and had it good. Yet he remembered her look of distress and sadness. Was she unhappy with her situation here or was it something else? Why did he care? Was it his business? No. He was here to take her to his patron and that is what he was going to do no matter how he felt about it. Just as he was about to ring the bell to his surprise who should appear?
It was Pippa! Rainbow Ivy hadn't expected this. He had promised tomorrow to teach her, and now she was here.
Pippa being filled with curiosity about the gourd that he called a guitar, decided she wanted to know more. Knowing he was going to find Fiona, she followed him at a distance. She couldn't help wonder what this Fiona had that attracted Rainbow Ivy. She liked him, and decided she might want him to be her mate. Not because she was in love, but wanted to know how to play music and it gave her such joy she wanted to have him be able to play it for her anytime she wanted.
Rainbow Ivy panicked. This was the last thing he wanted. How dare she follow him like a spy! He was furious.
Pippa smiling and laughing: Surprise Rainbow Ivy! I came to see if you would after finding Fiona teach me how to play the gourd.
Rainbow Ivy upset as his well laid plans could be spoiled by Pippa snapped: It is not a gourd, but a guitar. It plays music, but not for those who don't respect the one who plays it. I told you I would show you tomorrow. You have offended the guitar and if you don't leave now, I might not be able to convince it to play for you tomorrow.
Pippa's face fell. She was upset she had maybe not only offended Rainbow Ivy, but the special gourd. I am so sorry Rainbow Ivy, please tell the magic music playing gourd I am sorry. I do not mean offense.
Rainbow Ivy smiled at her innocence: Well I can try, but that might not be enough. He knew he had to get Pippa off his back.
Pippa wringing her hands in distress: Please Rainbow Ivy tell me what I must do. Does he require a blood sacrifice? Please ask anything and it shall be done.
Rainbow Ivy thought a moment and then inspiration hit: I have in the past rubbed the magic gourd with a special herb which makes it shiny and smooth making it bring forth music so sweet it would make a dragon cry. Unfortunately I have not been able to do this for a long while as I cannot get the herb as only fairies can get it. It is the root of the jujube tree in the province of Arcania.
Pippa's face fell: But it will require me to travel 5 days journey just to get to Arcania. Then I have to scale the mountain of Gourdinia and get the root protected by the fierce dragon Katia. She is not easily pacified and fairies have died in acquiring it.
Rainbow Ivy showing false consternation: Hmmmm I see. That is a dilemma isn't it? Well I guess we will have to see if the magic gourd will still play music for you tomorrow, but without some appeasing I just don't know.......ah well. He shrugged his shoulders.
Pippa disappointed hung her head thinking. She brought up her head slowly.
Pippa softly: I want the magic gourd to play for me. I will do it. Will you be here and promise me to teach me once I get the jujube?
Rainbow Ivy acting reluctant: Well maybe it is better not to have the magic gourd play. After all it is a long dangerous journey. I might be able to convince the magic gourd to play, but who knows what whim will over take him. If I had the jujube I know he would play, but well....
Pippa screwing up her courage: I go now. I will meet you in the cemetery in 7 days time. With that Pippa took off.
Rainbow Ivy smiled. He hated to have to do that, but he couldn't have her ruin his plans. If she found out what he wanted with Fiona she could wreck everything.
Rainbow Ivy rang the bell a little bit reluctantly. He didn't know why, but he just felt this wasn't going to end well. Tricking a fairy was one thing, but possibly kidnapping someone was something else. He hoped it didn't come to that, but he would do what had to be done.

Fiona coming down the stairs heard the doorbell. Who could it be? She walked toward the door and stopped. No! It wasn't, it couldn't be? What was he doing here? She was appalled. How did he find her? She didn't know what to do. Should she open the door and try to get him to leave before Shrek saw him? But if she opened the door would she be able to get rid of him? What kind of monster would come here making trouble? To be sure he didn't know about Shrek, but still he should know that when she didn't go to meet him it meant she didn't want anything to do with him.
Fiona scared and hoping that he didn't see her, walked quickly to the backyard. She hoped that Shrek wouldn't answer the door being reclusive and not liking people. She stood in the back of the house her heart pounding. A few minutes went by with the door bell not ringing. Her heart beat slowed and she breathed a sigh of relief.

All of a sudden she heard a familiar roar. Shrek was calling her name and he wasn't happy.
Fiona realized there was no running away this time. She reluctantly turned around and walked back into the house. She saw Shrek standing there glaring at her in great anger, and Rainbow Ivy was standing there like he was some kind of avenging angel. She sighed she didn't know what Rainbow Ivy wanted, but she knew from the look on Shrek's face that she was going to be sorry going to the cemetery, sorrier even than the day she came here and that was a day of regret hard to beat.
