Shrek's Idea
While Barthus was at the house talking to Jonelle, Shrek was walking around town aimlessly. His mind was in a turmoil. He had to concentrate as things were serious. He had to think what to do. Yet when he tried he kept coming back to the same thing. It was concerning Fiona. He was madder than a wet goat in a rainstorm. Fiona left with that Rainbow Ivy voluntarily that is certain, as there is no way he could have taken her without her cooperation. If he had violently taken her there is no way that he wouldn't have woken up. Why did she go? What did he offer her to make her go? Was life with him so bad it couldn't have been fixed? If she just would have come to him and talked with him instead of getting so angry all the time. He would have been willing to meet her half way and more if she just wouldn't have been so stubborn and obnoxious. He sighed. How could it all have gone so bad? True, he hadn't been happy with the situation from the beginning, but he had come to realize that she was the perfect woman for him. Nobody else would give him the time of day. She was a beautiful ogress, and she deserved better than him he knew that, but if she would have given him a chance, he could have shown her the world. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her. Why couldn't she see that? Why were women so contrary and do things that upset men. He knew it was hard to believe, but in spite of what his father thought, he did have a gentle side. It is true that was a side of him he kept hidden, but the way people treated him, he had to put up a strong front. He couldn't show weakness. Showing weakness led to more abuse and pain. He wasn't a bad sort. After all, if he was such a monster would P.u.s.s, Donkey and Dragon stay with him? Ok, so he wasn't always nice to the animals, but they goaded him terribly. It wasn't serious. It was like brothers tormenting their sisters, but at the end of the day they loved each other.
He shook himself. He had to stop this. He had to figure out what to do. He stopped not knowing where he was, and looked around. He saw that he had unconsciously walked to his favorite place, Eternal Fae Park. He loved this park. It was so quiet and only supernaturals hung out around here. People were too scared to come here as fairies were known to play pranks on people. Unfortunately a lot of the pranks backfired making people angry, and that wasn't by design. The ironic thing was the fairies liked people, and to them playing pranks on a person such as making them cold to the point where their teeth chattered is their way of showing them they like them. After all you didn't prank people who you didn't feel was worth your time. Fairy pranks were like a big sloppy kiss. There was the extra perk of having a fun game with people's teeth falling out. They liked finding those teeth which scatter everywhere because of the violence of the chattering, and they hold contests to see who can find the most interesting shaped teeth and make a necklace out of it. As much as they liked finding the teeth, they loved the ones that fell out intact top a nd bottom. They found this endlessly funny. The neat thing was unlike the others, these went back in neat as you please. They always wondered why some people had removable one piece teeth, and others didn't. It was a great mystery. Truth be told it wasn't just the fairies anyhow as people were afraid of ogres, vampires, and any supernatural. It was only out of ignorance. People didn't realize that like all people there were good and bad in every kind of creature. Shrek knew this from experience. One look at him and people ran. Shrek grew angry thinking of Fiona again. She was just like the others not giving him a chance. Being an ogre she should have known how it was. Maybe she thought she was better than him because for an ogress she was very pretty. True she had been beaten up in the park, but maybe she antagonized them and wasn't the victim after all. Well good riddance. He didn't need her or anybody. His father if he fell off the face of the earth it would be no skin off his nose. His father was just as hateful as Fiona. Always taking her side the love sick fool. He was twice her age, he should be ashamed!

The peaceful atmosphere in the park normally like in the past would have settled him down, but he found himself getting more agitated and started pacing back and forth. In spite of not wanting to admit it without his father or Fiona it would be a horrible life of loneliness, as even supernaturals were not too fond of ogres because of the penchant for them being mean and cantankerous. Shrek feeling very sorry for himself felt everybody was against him. He snarled getting angrier. He didn't want to be attached to anybody anymore. He was super glad he was rid of his father and his constant meddling in his life, and Fiona who only made life more miserable than he thought it could be. He thought life had been miserable before, but she added a level of misery he never wanted to deal with again. Those were two problems he hope were gone for good, and only one remained. He now he had to figure out how to be rid of that dang blasted contract his father got him into. The only comfort he had which was no comfort at all, was his father was up to his old, fat, cantankerous, meddling neck in this mess along with him.
Shrek realized he was huffing and puffing after furiously pacing, and seeing a bench he decided maybe relaxing on that bench in front of the soothing fountain spray would help him relax. He hadn't got this much exercise since... welllllll ok so he had never had this much exercise ever. After all why would he want to lose all this beautiful bulk that made him more intimidating?
Shrek sat down breathing heavily. He was so unhappy. How was he to get out of this contract? How? Looking up Shrek saw the fairy pavilion. He had been in there before and it was even more stunning than the park. Maybe walking through it would give him inspiration.
- Shrek walked up to the pavilion and paused. He shouldn't be wasting anymore time here. He needed to find a solution. What if this didn't help? Could he afford more time wasted? Frankly though his head was starting to pound and he couldn't sit and think anymore. Maybe he just needed to clear his head. What was the difference if he sat on that bench with his aching head whirling or he goes into the fairy pavilion to soothe the savage beast. If he could think rationally he could come up with a solution. All of a sudden he heard voices calling his name! It seems the fairies wanted him for some reason. This had never happened before. Why would they want to talk to him?
Well it wouldn't do to make the fairies mad at him as they could torment him endlessly with their pranks forever. Taking a deep breath he plunged into the pavilion.
After a couple hours Shrek emerged. The fairies were right. There was no other way. There was only one thing to do, and do it he would. With a renewed sense of purpose, Shrek left to go home. He would not let anything stop him not even his father. If anybody tried to stop him they would be sorry and that would go double for his father!
